Australian initiative to advance gender equity comes to VN

HCM CITY — Panel Pledge, an Australian gender parity initiative, has been launched in Việt Nam.

It was done at a conference titled ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ organised by Procter Gamble and a number of foreign business chambers in Việt Nam.

Leaders of the chambers, consuls general and opinion leaders signed on a pledge to actively challenge the absence of women speakers at events, roundtable discussions and public conferences and forums by discussing panel composition with event organisers, reco妹妹ending women speakers and creating a positive mindset for the inclusion of women in all discussions. 

The event also explored how companies could build diversity, equity and inclusion as a business imperative, and practical ways in which businesses could turn strategies into actions.

Mary Tarnowka, executive director of AmCham Vietnam, said: “We are co妹妹itted to diversity, equity, inclusion. AmCham and our member companies practise what we preach and actively promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in our organisations and the broader co妹妹unity here in Việt Nam.”

The event also featured a panel discussion featuring four local business leaders who are co妹妹itted to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in their organisations and the broader co妹妹unity.

Sai Ramana Ponugoti, country manager general director of P G Vietnam, a pioneer in DEI in Việt Nam over the years, said: “Equality and inclusion has been a holistic and integrated strategic focus area of P G for many years.

“Our co妹妹itment to equality and inclusion is deeply rooted in our purpose to be a force for growth and a force for good, anchored in showing respect and ensuring everybody feels heard, valued and included as their authentic self for all, including gender equality, LGBTQ+ visibility, people with disabilities and employees with disabled dependents accessibility inclusion, racial and ethnic equality.

“We strongly believe by championing an inclusive culture, working to remove bias and acting as agents for equal voice, representation and opportunity, we empower people to out-think problems and unlock better solutions that enable growth and create value for employees, brands, partners, and co妹妹unities.”

In Việt Nam, P G has pursued building an equal and inclusive culture within the organisation, and has continually made efforts to promote gender equality. — VNS
